Worship Services:
Sundays 8:30am and 10:00am
Thursdays 11:00am
Worship is the heart of spiritual life at Emmanuel. We offer prayer through and are nurtured
by the Holy Eucharist. Our Sunday and weekday Eucharist use Rite II from the Book of Common Prayer and other supplemental rites available to us. Rite II is often thought of as the less formal liturgical form. We try to offer worship that is inviting for people of all ages, with music of many styles and preaching that seeks to bring the Gospel to life. The Sunday Eucharist are also occasions when we regularly celebrate baptisms throughout the year. In the Eucharist, Christ is present, welcoming us all, whoever we are. We hope you will come and discover this experience of welcome and then join us in serving God's world after you leave.
All are welcome to attend the worship services. And there are many opportunities for those who desire to play a more active role in conducting the rituals of the service at Emmanuel:
Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers also assist the Celebrant in worship, especially by serving the Communion elements to the congregation.
Lectors
Lectors are those who read the Scripture lessons in our services. A wide variety of our members take turns in turning the written word into the spoken word.
Greeters and Ushers
Greeters and Ushers welcome everyone to worship, and make sure the service flows smoothly by distributing bulletins, getting extra chairs if needed, helping folks with disabilities, managing the lights and sound system, and all those things that go into helping us concentrate on worship.
The Altar Guild
The Altar Guild cares for the linens, vestments, candles, and utensils we use in services of the Eucharist. The Guild prepares the Lord's Table and cares for putting things away after the service.
Acolytes
Acolytes assist the Celebrant in worship. Children can begin serving as Acolytes as young as age six according to their abilities, and receive training to grow in their understanding of worship.
