WEDDING CEREMONIES AT EEC
Congratulations on your engagement! Members of Emmanuel Episcopal Church feel it’s important that all couples who are considering our church as the place to exchange their wedding vows understand that Emmanuel is a Christian house of worship and its members regard the ceremony of marriage solemnly and respectfully.
Weddings held at Emmanuel must follow one of the forms authorized for use in the Episcopal Church. Our priest, Rev. Kay Houck, will help you customize the service. Your ceremony will have added meaning for family and friends if you ask them to participate by reading lessons, psalms, or prayers.
Because marriage is a sacrament, Holy Communion will be included as part of the wedding ceremony. The Rector will clearly indicate that all baptized Christians may partake of Holy Communion with you as you begin your lives together.
Guidelines for the ceremony itself and the preparations for it have been worked out in detail and are followed as closely as possible. All weddings must be approved by the rector prior to booking.
For more information about availability and the application process, please contact the Office Manager at 231-347-2350 ext. 110 or contact us via our online contact form.
Whether you select Emmanuel Episcopal Church as the place for your wedding day or you go elsewhere, members of Emmanuel wish you many years of love, happiness and success.
About our Facility
Historical Stone Structure
The parish of Emmanuel is blessed with a magnificent facility in which to pursue our faith. When the church members purchased the building in 1957; it was a stately large home sitting on 3 acres of land. Many additions were made over the years and the structure now has within its walls an abundance of space for use by parishioners including a large beautiful sanctuary, a smaller separate chapel, a large undercroft for parish-wide activities and several separate special use meeting rooms.
Bridal Party Preparation Rooms
We recently updated a charming preparation area for the bride and her attendants on the second floor of the original home which is nearly 100 years old. This lovely space includes a private living room area that offers a place to hang the wedding gown, mirrors, makeup table and chairs, and private bathrooms. The groom and groomsmen have their own private living room area with a small kitchen and bathroom nearby. A large comfortable living room area is available for family members to relax and visit while they wait for the ceremony to begin.
Charles J. Connick Stained Glass
Visitors and members of Emmanuel appreciate the many beautiful stained glass windows located in the central part of the church where we worship. They were designed by Charles J. Connick who created windows for churches, cathedrals, chapels, schools, hospitals and libraries throughout the United States and abroad.
“…. I want to make beautiful interiors for both churches and souls. I want people to hear my windows singing...” --Charles J. Connick
Manicured Lawns and Gardens
Over three acres of land with plenty green space is available on the property. As you turn onto the driveway and take in the expansive stone building, bright right red geraniums can be seen along the flowerbeds that stretch along the front of the building.
Our large Nave can seat 190 guests in beautiful wooden pews.
Our newly recovered parking lot has plenty of space making parking a breeze.
Our parking lot and main floor entrance are barrier free with a large handicapped accessible bathroom centrally located.
