If you are experiencing an emergency, please visit mi211.org for a list of resources available to help with housing, utilities, and other essential services. Our parish contributes to a number of local agencies providing emergency relief, and we are committed to supporting collaborative ministries that make a positive difference in the lives of people in our community who are in need.

The Outreach Ministry of Emmanuel takes seriously the scriptural teachings of Jesus, the prophets, and the apostles, regarding the essential quality of living out our faith in tangible and impactful ways. We do this through faithful and generous stewardship of our money, time, passions, and experiences. As a congregation, we currently support the following initiatives and ministries:

Financial Grants for local Non-Profit Organizations

        Boyne Area Free Clinic

        ChildFund International

        Michigan Interfaith Power and Light

        Nehemiah Hospitality House

        Northern Michigan Chaplain Service

        Northwest Community Action Agency

        Northwest Michigan Women's Resource Center

Thursday Lunch Program

The Thursday Lunch Program has been in existence for over 15 years. This is a shared ministry between Emmanuel Episcopal Church and Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. We rotate on a monthly basis with them. Meals are served at 1st Presbyterian Church, 501 East Mitchell, in their fellowship hall. Several local businesses pariticipate in providing hot meals. The Thursday Lunch Program is a total volunteer effort between churches and other organizations in our community.

Northern Michigan Interfaith Common Ground

Northern Michigan Interfaith Common Ground is a gathering of people of faith working together to support the well-being of our community. Emmanuel is a joyful member of this organization, sharing in interfaith worship, advocacy, and collaborative partnerships to work towards justice, peace, and love.

Youth Mission Trips

We support our youth mission trips to Cuba and/or to domestic projects. The funds that we provide helps to offset the total cost of the trips  in a small way so that more youth are able to attend. It is a wonderful opportunity for them to have a diverse Christian experience.

CROP Walk

Crop Walk is always on the last Saturday in June on the campus of Bayview. We gather around 8:30am to register and turn in our donor envelopes. This event is a benefit for the national organization as well as for MANNA, the local food shelf. Emmanuel walkers have bright green t-shirts with designs created by younger parishioners on them. We often have had the largest walkiing group. Usuallly there is a Dixieland swing group playing to kickoff the event. We stroll through the campus on a pre-arranged mile to mile and a half walk around campus. We end up back at the registration area and often are served ice cream cones. This is a fun way to get the church family out on a Saturday morning to raise funds for a great cause.

Episcopal Relief and Development

We support this annually. ERD provides food and financial assistance as well as disaster relief for familes and populations hard hit by weather related catastrophes nationally as well as internationally. Their Help End Hunger campaign has had a huge impact on local communities as well as overseas. They are well tuned in to world diasters in a big way and can move the funds  more easily than we can in many cases.

We need to keep our minds open, our eyes open and our ears open so that we are doing the best to support our community in a Christian way. Thanks be to God!
