The Emmanuel Rector

The Rector of Emmanuel, Greg Brown, is a native of southwest Michigan, being born and raised near Kalamazoo. He attended Michigan State University where he earned his degree in the Biological Sciences along with his teaching certificate. He lived in Central Florida teaching high school in Haines City for two years before returning to Michigan. He taught six more years at East Grand Rapids High School before entering seminary.

He first attended St. Andrew's Anglican Seminary in Mexico City (in order to learn more about Hispanic ministry), and later transferred to General Theological Seminary in New York City. He graduated there in 2001. Fr. Greg's first call was to Trinity Episcopal Church in Grand Ledge, Michigan, where he served for almost five years. He answered the call to Emmanuel in the fall of 2005, beginning his service here in November of that year. He loves it here and hopes he is here for a long, long time!

Fr. Greg is married to Cathy, an alumnus of Alma College, and they have three daughters whom you can see singing or acolyting on Sunday mornings. In what spare time he has, he enjoys being a soccer referee, hearing people yell things at him that they seldom yell on Sunday mornings.
