Positions Available

Emmanuel Episcopal Church - Petoskey  Nursery Coordinator  - Part-Time Position

Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Petoskey, is seeking a Nursery Coordinator effective immediately. The individual will be responsible for providing a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for children infant to age 4 during Sunday morning services.  Time commitment: 2 hours on Sunday (covering the 10:00 am service) and occasionally, as needed 2 hours on holy days.


Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Oversees Emmanuel Nursery. Responsible for age appropriate care including: feeding, changing diapers, maintaining safe environment, putting children down for naps, holding, sitting with, and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, and play.
  • Arrive a half hour before service starts (usually 9:30 AM) to prepare the room. Must have at least one volunteer assistant. Alert Rector ASAP if volunteer assistant is not present.
  • Demonstrate positive, friendly attitude with the parents and children in your care.
  • Keep room looking neat, clean, and sanitized. Be especially mindful of safety of children.
  • Follow church procedures for checking in and checking out children to the nursery.
  • Develop a good relationship with nursery volunteers.
  • Communicate in advance, by phone or email, to the Rector of any absences.
  • Planned absences must be given two weeks ahead of time.
  • In case of last minute illness, must contact the Rector by phone as soon as possible.
  • Report needs and concerns to the Rector.
  • Report needed supplies to the Office Manager (wipes, paper towels, diapers, etc.).
  • Report damaged toys/equipment or safety hazards to the Office Manager.
  • Wear identification name tag while working.
  • Complete time sheet when working (record arrival and departure time)



High School diploma, certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross in basic first aid/CPR certification for infants and children.  If not currently certified, be willing to complete training, at church’s expense.


Must complete the “Safeguarding God’s Children” training (online).

Emmanuel Episcopal Church - Petoskey  Office Manager - Summer Temporary Position

Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Petoskey, is seeking a temporary Office Manager for eight weeks (June 24 - August 16, 2019).  20 hours per week, to facilitate office support for the ministry of the church. 


Duties include:

  • answering telephone calls and emails;
  • greeting visitors;
  • handling mail;
  • maintaining church’s online presence including website and social media;
  • prepare weekly bulletin for worship services and monthly newsletter, in coordination with the rector.

The successful candidate will:

  • be familiar with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint;
  • have excellent interpersonal skills;
  • relate well to all kinds of people inside and outside the church;
  • demonstrate the highest integrity in work ethic and maintain strict confidentiality.

Position subject to criminal background check as well as training in Safeguarding God’s Children.


Qualifications include: 

  • High School diploma;
  • at least one to two years working in an office setting.
